Look, I know a lot of conservatives want to make sure gay marriage stays illegal all over the United States. I personally find this view to be more hypocritical than conservative. They make this judgement based mostly on either religion or ignorance/fear. However, if we are to call ourselves conservative we must stick to the constitution right? Well, the constitution protects us from becoming a theocracy. I’m a christian, but feel that the issue of gay marriage should be left up to the states. If gay marriage is illegal, then marriage between a man and a woman should be illegal for anyone who doesn’t practice a religion that calls for marriage. Now the logic sounds flawed right? I am interested to see your thoughts on this subject. Remember this… just because we don’t believe in something or don’t agree with it doesn’t mean we have the constitutional right to make it illegal. I will change my mind if someone can prove me wrong based on the words of the constitution. But I know that won’t happen…. I have a copy on my phone… I read it often. It’s time for “conservatives” to become conservatives and not hypocrites.
